Benson Family Reunion 2013

The second weekend in June we headed South on I-35 for the Benson Family Reunion.  I won't lie..it stresses me out traveling with kids...it just does.  On the way down, sweet little Hallie got the memo to take a nap and her brother did not get the memo.  I think he slept a grand total of 30 minutes, and literally talked non stop all the way from Waco until we got to Henly (Blanco).  NON STOP!!!!  We made a pit stop in Waco and had breakfast / lunch at I-Hop and then got right back in the truck to be on our way.

I sat in the back with the kids......and almost lost my mind.....

She got the memo....

This cute little boy didn't........

We got there around 130-2 on Friday and had a great time hanging out until the little man burned his right hand on the exhaust of a go kart.  Jeremy was right next to him and turned his head for about 1 second and P touched it.  It was soooo sad, and he burned it pretty good  : )  The picture doesn't really do it justice.  The tips of his swingers swelled up pretty bad and we had to pop them a few days later.  No fun at all!!

He kept saying and still says "no touch go kart...hot...hurt my hand".

On Saturday we got up and headed to the cabin and everyone sang Happy Birthday to Pierson.  Mom got him a little cookie cake, and all the family sang to him.  It was a must to wear the helmet while eating.

That afternoon, Jeremy, my dad, myself, and P all headed to Gruene with some of our cousins.  Hallie stayed behind with Dot Dot and Meme.  Apparently Hallie was a little angel while we were gone.  She actually let someone sit and hold her.  That is not like her...she loves to be held all the time...but only while standing.  Makes for some fun times  : )

P had his first try of onion rings from the Gristmill

This car was parked on the street in Gruene with a "For Sale" sign for $60,000.

Here are a few more pics from our weekend....

Booger anyone??

I decided to drive home, and Jeremy was able to experience the fun of sitting in the back with two kids.  Needless to say, I don't think he enjoyed it much.  We almost made it home without any stops, but sweet sister decided it was time for a blow out in her pants.  We pulled over, changed her, got something to eat and hit the road.  I have never been so excited to give my kids a bath, especially Pierson.  He was so dirty...I guess just like a little boy should be.  His hand is starting to look better.  Poor guy I think he learned his lesson.  We felt so bad for him.  He literally screamed for two hours on Friday night.  There was nothing that made him feel better.  We felt so helpless.  He has enjoyed showing everyone his hand thought.  Hoping that will NEVER happen again!

Hallie-4 Months

Our sweet little demanding diva was four months on May 23.  This little girl is too sweet, but she is demanding...like as in demanding to be held all the time.  I usually give in, and Jeremy says she is rotten..ha ha.  She has started rolling over immediately after putting her on the ground, and she still looks JUST LIKE HER FATHER.  Sometimes when she cries Jeremy wonders if it is because she looks like him...its true!!!

We visited Dr. Schwartz the same time we took P for his two year check up.  Baby girl is about average on most things.  She was 12lbs 13oz (26%).  She was 24" tall (33%) and her head was 16" (35%).  She got her shots, but I let Jeremy stay in the room with her for that, and P and I went and played outside the room with the nurses and he picked out some little toys.  I actually didn't want P to see her screaming.  Doctor Schwartz said she is doing good.  She is on breast milk still, and that seems to be going good.  She spits up as much as her brother did (well maybe a little less).  It has to be what I am eating, but with pumping, you really never know what it is.  I don't eat anything spicy, so who knows.  Hallie absolutely LOVES to be talked to.  She will smile and smile, and then gets a little upset when you walk away from her.  She has started watching Pierson more and more.  She is grabbing onto a few things, and takes the pacifier in and out of her mouth.  She will take it out and get upset all the time.  It also appears that she likes her pacifier as much as her brother did.

Her hair actually looks blonde in the pictures, but it is fairly dark...not quite as dark as P's but almost.  She is sporting the "its hot outside and mommy is too lazy to change met" look below....

JoJo spent the night with us a couple nights and Hallie sat on her laugh while we prayed with bubba!

It is rough being 4 months old....

We have started the diva on oatmeal.  I did oatmeal with P and never did rice cereal.  Don't know if that is  good or bad, but thats what I did.  She is slowly getting the hang of it.  Heck..she only gets like one teaspoon a day right now.  I am going to up it this weekend though.  Overall, we have started to get the hang of having two kiddos with getting into a little routine.  Please pray for us as we travel to a family reunion this weekend....or better yet, just pray that I don't have a melt down  : )

Pierson is 2!!

My sweet P turned two on June 3.  Where has the time gone?  He has changed soooo much, I just can't believe it.  We were all ready and set to have his low key birthday party at a nearby park, and the little dude got sick, so we canceled.  It made me sad, but he really didn't know the difference.

The below pic cracks me up.  It really is a cute pic, but looks a little distorted on here...

Jeremy and I went to pick him up from school on Friday to take him to his two year appointment and he had a fever.  Doc says there is a virus going around.  Why did this have to happen right before the party?  It made me sad, but I guess he really has no idea that he missed anything.

Side note...I went to Party City on Friday around lunch to pick up some balloons for his party.  There was a lady who was behind me in line and she made some kind of comment amount going ahead and checking out... while I was trying to find a train balloon.  She said her kid was in the car.  Um...I wanted to say "who leaves there kid in the car".  Some people!!!  And of course...both of the train balloons they had were sold out.

My boy was 35lbs and 4 oz (98%), 37 1/2" tall (99%) and his head was 20 1/2" (99%).  He is about the size of a 3-4 year old I believe and the doc says his head is about the size of a 5-6 year old.  I will just take it that he has more knowledge in there :)  Who knows if it is true or not, but Dr. Schwartz says if he keeps growing at this rate, he estimates he will be about 6'2" or 6'3".  I'll take it.  He obviously didn't feel good, but he still got a shot in his leg, which he calls an owie.  I asked him what the doctor says while there, and he responded with "no more monkeys jumping on the bed".

Here is the cutie at the doctor's office.

Dot Dot had made a ton of banana muffins for his party, so I met her half way on Saturday morning and she also brought P's birthday present..

A new scooter...

And the tricky part was trying to find a had to fit his big ole' head!!

On his actual birthday, we got him a little cake and he got to open up some presents that evening.  The boy is obsessed with trucks, trash trucks, etc.  I think Jeremy and I have watched EVERY SINGLE last You Tube video involving anything to do with trucks or trains.  Sadly he knows how to get to the videos he wants and moves the screen up and down already.

Before daddy and sissy got home, Me and P hung out and acted silly!

So excited about his "guys"!

Over the same weekend, we went to a party with our Sunday school (Life Group) class.  Pierson is so funny...he wanted nothing to do with the slide and was a bit unsociable.  So weird sometimes, but he had fun with his first popsicle.  No pic because it was all over me : )

He helped daddy "fix" the sprinkler heads in the back yard.  We also set up a slip and slide in the back yard.  I thought it would be fun to give it a try.  Wow...I am old.  I think I hurt myself the first time I attempted to "slide" down it.

His cousin Celina, or as he calls her "Cina" came over for the day on Saturday.

I know I say it all the time, but it is so hard to believe that Pierson is 2.  He is such a sweet kiddo.  Don't get me wrong...he is definitely all boy, and can be a real turd sometimes, but we just love him to pieces.  Jeremy and I were just talking about how it is so weird to hear him talking in little sentences and literally repeating everything we say.  We are also shocked to notice that he remembers everything.  He really does love his sissy and i'm not so sure he remembers life before her anymore.  He still gets a little jealous, but overall does good with her.  If she is ever crying he always says "sorry sissy".  I try to explain to him that he does not have to be sorry unless he does something wrong...but he hasn't figured that out yet.  Everyday after school I ask him what he learned and he says the exact same thing every day "Abc's".  He loves his teacher, Ms. Carie, and talks about her all the time.  Definitely makes me feel better...although he is moving up to the next classroom for good pretty soon.

We have had this occur on several occasions. although he still eats pretty good, but still LOVES his milk.  Lord help us...he would drink a gallon if we let him.

I will leave you with Pierson sitting on the potty....
