Potty 101

On Friday July 5th we started potty training. the little man  Jeremy and I were both off that day, so we went for it.  We tried a three day method, and I have to say it has worked for the most part.  We put him in underwear that morning and haven't looked back since.  We confined ourselves to the house for three days, and I thought Jeremy was going to LOSE it.  He can't stand being stuck in the house, but I didn't mind one bit.  He really has done a pretty good job.  Of course, we still have accidents here and there.  Surprisingly he got the poopy thing down immediately.  However, a couple of weeks ago, P let us know that pooping in your underwear was the "in thing".  It is super frustrating, but I have to keep reminding myself that he is two years old.  I was starting to question whether I started to early or not, but he was ready.  He kept trying to pull his diaper off, and was interested in the potty, so we just went for it, and I am not going back now.

Last week at school, he only had accidents a couple of days and even woke up from his nap dry.  I will take it!!!

For awhile he got a treat every time he went to the potty and then he started to forget about it.  I think I am going to start back up with the treats again to see if that will help with the pooping.  I feel like the only thing I say to him is "tell mommy and daddy if you need to go potty".  One of the problems is that now he loves to watch movies (yeah for him sitting still for awhile), but when watching a movie he literally drifts off into another world, and will sometimes have accidents.

Jeremy made the mistake of saying "thats a big turd" one day, and now Pierson takes pride in looking in the potty and saying "wow...thats a big turd".  Lovely!!  Makes me such a proud proud mother.

Funny story....one day he told me he needed to go potty so off we went.  I told him that his poopy really was stinky.  Well, it turns out that a turd had fallen out of his underwear and I had stepped in it, and didn't even realize for a few secs.  Pierson thought it was funny and for a few days told everyone that "mommy stepped in poo poo".  My lovely husband came in to take a pic of my foot while I was screaming like a little girl...but I won't bother you with that pic.

Like father, like son...

Is it just my child, or is it normal for one to pick up approximately 15 toys on their way to the potty??

Pierson wore his undies only for the entire weekend.  But, who am I kidding.  Anyone who sees my posts on Facebook, see that my children usually don't have clothes on at home.  Ehh..whatever.  No worries..mommy and daddy do wear clothes at all times!

 Cute little hiney....

Taking a break from potty training to help give Sissy a breathing treatment.

or stick legos in her face... Check out that face she is making....  She absolutely LOVES Pierson.  She gets so excited and laughs at him whenever she sees him.  I must admit, that she loves her mama too!

He played outside for a little while.  And yes...we red necked it and he only wore a shirt.  Heck, I didn't want to have to keep changing shorts.  Although he really started to catch on this day.  I believe that daddy and sissy went to church and momma and bubby stayed home.

Mr. Mike, our neighbor taking Pierson on a walk (in his undies) around the cul de sac!

When you gotta go, you gotta go..

I'm certain my child will not be happy that I posted these pictures when he gets older.  But, these are the things I want to remember.  At this rate, if I don't write it down or put it on a computer I won't remember it.  Overall, we are so proud of our cute little monkey.  He has done so good.  It is frustrating at times, but i'm glad we went for it!!  We love you turkey!!
